The founder of Herbal Health Depot, Mrs. Nitina Sehgal, is a highly respected biochemist. Also, she has done independent research studies in various Herb Medicines. Because of her dual areas of expertise Herbal Health Depot may truly state: it is where millennia old knowledge meets modern science. Her accomplishments are too numerous to list in this space.
 
A synopsis: Recognized title: Biochemist (Research & Development Scientist)
Formal education: Gujarat University, India: Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, 1966, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas: Master of Science in Biochemistry, 1968. While doing the original research for her Doctorate, Ph.D., she accepted a position as Chief Chemist at Mount Sinai Hospital of Chicago, USA. Following Mount Sinai Hospital, she held important positions with many famous institutions: Laboratory Associates, Inc. and Martha Washington Hospital (both places as Director of research and clinical lab), University of Texas Medical Branch, Baylor College of Medicine Shriners Burns Institute. All of the above didn’t keep her from doing independent research studies in various Herb Medicines.
 
She has many research publications in reputable Medical journals of USA and is well recognized in her field. Mrs. Sehgal’s research work was honored before the 22nd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Cell Biology in San Antonio, Texas: The finding of her original research of Phosphorylation of Specific Proteins was the subject of her presentation. Her other original research has been the subject in various peer reviewed scientific journals: 1) L-Tryptophan Antagonism of Epinephrine Induce Hyperglycemia in Rats. Pharmacology 3:305-314. 2) Changes in Content and cAMP-dependent Phosphorylation of Specific Proteins in Granulosa Cells of Preantral and Preovulatory Ovarian Follicles and in Corpora Lutea. J. Biol. Chem. 258: 5227-5232. 3) Immunochemical Content and Enzymatic Activity of cAMP – Dependent Protein Kinase in Differentiating Rat Ovarian Granulosa Cells. J. Biol. Chem.. 4) LH/hCG – Induced Changes in Content and Phosphorylation of Cytosol Proteins in Luteinizing Ovarian Follicles and Corpora Lutea.

Dr. J. M. Sehgal is an eminent scientist having a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from University of Delhi and also a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from University of Wisconsin, USA. He had a brilliant academic record all through and won many scholarships and grants for higher studies, including Fulbright grant.
 
He has worked in a senior position including Production In Charge, Chief Technologist at IDPL, Chief of Technical division of IDPL, Managing Director of Smith Stainstreet Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Director of many other drug companies including Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Bengal Immunity Ltd. He has published over 40 scientific and technical papers in many reputable journals, worldwide.
 
AS A CONSULTANT FOR PHARMA SECTOR:
 
Dr. Sehgal is also providing Consultancy Services from concept to commissioning stages in Pharma Sector / Herb Medicines for setting up new plants or for expansion of the existing unit.

He has over 40 years cumulative floor experience in production, production- planning, R & D, Quality Control, corporate level management in industry etc. in pharma sector.  Supported by its experienced team of specialists comprising of senior technologists and engineers, Dr. Sehgal has set up new plants and ancillary units and transferred technologies to several reputed companies for number of latest blockbuster drugs for antidepressant, antihistaminic, anti-ulcerative, cardiovascular, anticancer etc. 

Dr. Sehgal has also prepared comprehensive “Written Process Technology Package” for a number of latest drugs on requests from pharmaceutical companies in the country.  These packages have adequate data to enable the client to set up its own manufacturing unit and manufacture the product with the help of his Technical Team.
